The Scottish History Society Digital Edition in now live

The Society were delighted to launch, with our partners, the National Library of Scotland, the digital edition of its extensive collection of over 180 volumes, on 14 November 2016.

Together in partnership, the Society and the NLS have been working for the past 18 months on a high quality digitisation project, and our volumes are now freely available to all via a specially designed site on the NLS’s Digital Gallery. New volumes will be added on an on-going basis year by year.

The digital launch was part of the Society’s 130th birthday celebrations, which were marked by a lecture by Dr Catriona Macdonald, of the University of Glasgow on,

‘Select coteries of scholars and dilettanti’?: the Scottish History Society and the creation of a national historical community

The lecture explored the foundation of the Society, alongside other publication societies of the day, and was very much enjoyed by the full house in attendance.
